Studies cover the scientific fields of wood science and technology, furniture production technology and furniture design, carried out in compliance with the social rules and with respect to the environment.
The mission of the department is:
- to promote the transmission and advancement of knowledge in the field of wood science and technology, furniture production technology and furniture design,
- to provide students with a high level of technological training, knowledge and skills in order to ensure their scientific and professional development and future career,
- to develop know-how and innovations by applying scientific and technological knowledge, in order to promote the growth and progress of the wood and furniture industry in our country,
- to educate new “wood & furniture technologists and designers” of the highest quality level.

The department graduates can work in the wood-furniture sector as Wood Technologists, Furniture Technologists and Designers, and particularly in the following areas:
- Designing furniture and systems of furniture and creating prototype designing proposals,
- Application of technological methods on furniture production,
- Production of wood and wooden products (such as particleboards, fibreboards, plywood, pulp paper and paper, frames, roofs, floors, greenhouses, etc)
- Evaluation and cost evaluation of wooden products, wooden structures and furniture,
- Furnishing and decoration from wood,
- Examining the observation of technical specifications and the application of quality assurance and control systems in wood and furniture products.
- Carrying out feasibility studies for the establishment, organisation, management, operation and recruitment of wood processing and wood trading businesses.
- Employment in the service of occupational health and safety,
- Employment in public and private education, according to relevant legislation.
